Bringing You the Most DAZZLING in Traditionally Published and Indie Romance... Because We ROCK!
RUSHING THE GOALIntroduced in Toni Aleo’s Bellevue Bullies Series, it’s the Sinclair brothers’ big sister’s turn to find love in the next installment of the New York Times and USA Today best-selling series, the Assassins.
Lucy Sinclair was no stranger to pain.
She grew up with three younger brothers, met a bad boy, got pregnant by him, married him, and then suffered through a nasty divorce from him. Pain. That was pain. To top it off, she even had to go through the heartbreaking divorce of her parents. Through it all, she survived. All she cared about was making sure her daughter was happy and taken care of. Despite an ex-husband hell-bent on ruining her life, she fought to overcome. She’s gotten to the point that she’s okay with being just okay. She never cared about herself because she never had the time. It was Angie and only Angie she focused on, but that all changed when Benji Paxton offered to help her daughter on the ice.
Benji knew the moment he saw Lucy, he’d never be the same. Especially when she came with the bundle of crazy that was her daughter. His heart wasn’t ready for them. After years spent sobering up and finding who he was without the alcohol, he never forgot he was being punished for not appreciating the love he had when he was younger. Because of his past, he had gotten used to being alone, a recluse, but even he had to admit it was getting old. He was lonely. Hockey wasn’t enough anymore. He wanted a family; he wanted his true love, and Lucy and Angie were just that.
Benji and Lucy were just two lost souls. Floating through life with no purpose. But finding each other gave them direction, a chance at a future.
This book is for any single mom who wants to give up.
Just keep being a great mom. And take care of yourself.
Your prince is coming.
Toni Aleo’s Assassin series is a wonderful collection of classic sport romances with enticing twists. I appreciate that each can be enjoyed individually focusing on a new lead couple yet the previous characters appear throughout so you get little updates on past favorites. This author has a very smooth style that makes reading her books enjoyable and fun. Her novels are perfect for anyone interested in a well written, thoughtful love story to get lost in for awhile.
Right from the beginning, I knew Benji and Lucy have several common threads that could tie them together well. They have both experienced a lot of pain and heartache on their jagged paths through life. They’ve been tried and tested, almost to the point of giving up. As individuals they are struggling. Benji is awkward around women and appears to have lost the ability to get past the initial phase of communication. Lucy scares men away with her resting bitch face and has zero interest in dating another man ever again. They had been coasting along with only a few singular motivators keeping them going through the daily routine. Benji has hockey. Lucy has her daughter. Both have a huge, gaping hole that only a romantic partner could fill.
Once they get together they are totally combustible and the heat spreads like wild fire! They can’t be stopped! The passionate scenes between Lucy and Benji are electric. When they are lost in each other’s arms, the past turmoil is silenced and beautiful bliss is found. Unfortunately the lingering pain cannot be permanently quieted. Benji and Lucy have to clear a few more hurdles before they can reach happily ever after but those few obstacles could be what derails them completely.
Rushing the Goal is a high energy read that had me cycling through several emotional reactions. The balance between the intersecting plot lines was excellent and the transitions were always flawless. You won’t be disappointed with this steamy hit!
